Luxurious Barcelona: a long way to go
Even with the financial crisis, the luxury market has continued to rise in the Catalan capital
Barcelona has become in recent years a great incentive for consumers who feel attracted by luxury products. The city has emerged as the showcase that offers everything that satisfies the buyer’s wishes. As well as having a Mediterranean climate with a high prevail of sun, Barcelona has a very powerful and diverse transport network. You can get there either by plane, ship, rail network or wheeled vehicles. This facilitates the entrance to the city to those who come from foreign countries and gives them the capability of moving around it. People feel drawn by Barcelona because it offers gastronomy, relax, art, culture and tradition, shopping, motoring, sports, attractions, recreations, accommodation and nature in just a few kilometres.

Even with the current economic crisis, there are statistics which show that the luxury sector is still resisting. Barcelona remains as an almost compulsory stop for many people with high spending power. The aim of this report is to explain in great detail all the incentives that make Barcelona an international centre of attraction for luxury. But, above all, its purpose is to go into detail on the origin and the reasons of those consumers who look for exclusivity when coming to the Catalan capital. Even though Barcelona’s luxury sector is not as important as in Paris or London, the relevance of this phenomenon is something we should take into account. In this respect, it may be expected the city will benefit from each and every incentive at its disposal for the sake of consolidating a luxury status, without losing, however, one of Barcelona’s major appeal: an optimum balance in price and quality of services.
